What an SEO assessment should clarify before you add more content

Clarify page purpose, discoverability, business facts and measurement before expanding a small business website.

Identify the purpose of the existing pages

Before commissioning more articles, list what each current page is meant to answer. A service overview, a detailed service explanation and an educational guide have different jobs. If several pages repeat the same vague promise, another page may repeat the same uncertainty.

Start with the questions a potential customer needs answered and decide where the most complete answer belongs.

Check the path to the answer

An assessment should inspect whether relevant pages can be reached through working links and whether their titles and headings describe their purpose. It should also distinguish content present in the initial HTML from content requiring additional rendering.

These checks identify implementation questions. They do not establish that passing a checklist will produce a particular ranking. Google describes JavaScript crawling and rendering as a process with specific considerations; the presence of a script alone is not a diagnosis.

Reconcile business facts and evidence

Check that service descriptions, contact details and stated availability agree. Keep planned work separate from services already being delivered. If a case study makes a performance claim, identify the evidence and the period it covers.

Separate observations from explanations. A ranking page can reveal how it is built, but its structure alone does not prove why it ranks.

Decide what to measure next

Record which data is actually available: page access, indexing information, search impressions, inquiries or qualified conversations. Each answers a different question. An article being published is not proof that it has been indexed or generated useful demand.

Use the assessment to choose a finite next change and document its purpose. MarketMerit's proposed search work begins with assessment and planning; exact implementation scope is a separate agreement.
